What's happening at Uttoxeter

Wed, Feb 8, 2012

Foodies will be delighted to hear that this year Staffordshire will play host to not one, but two, celebrations of food and drink in 2012. The team behind the popular Stone Food & Drink Festival, which celebrated its most successful year to date in 2011, is joining forces with Uttoxeter Racecourse to add another 'red letter day' to the Midlands' food calendar.

The Uttoxeter Food & Drink Festival will take place at the Racecourse on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June 2012, with the Stone Food & Drink Festival team offering their expertise to help make the event a real hit. Like the annual festival in Stone, it will feature food halls, cookery demonstrations and a real ale tent alongside meals in the course's own bistro and restaurant and a family fun area.

This year's Stone Food & Drink Festival, meanwhile, once again promises to be bigger and better than ever. The festival itself, with its gourmet marquee, top chef demonstrations and beer festival will run from Friday 5th — Sunday 7th October, with other festival events including the ever-popular farmers' market, Manger a Trois roving meals and minibus 'real ale trails' taking place throughout festival week. There are also a host of new attractions planned for 2012, as festival Chairman Richard Stevens explains:

"The 2011 festival was, without doubt, the best we've ever seen — so the challenge is on to make 2012 even bigger and better. We've a number of ideas to develop that will help make the festival even more popular with families and some new events and attractions being planned to give visitors even better value for money. We're also delighted to support Uttoxeter Racecourse organise its first ever food festival; we're keen to promote Staffordshire as a centre of excellence for food wherever possible, so this festival can only help to further boost the county's profile."
