A SURGE of support for the horse of Champion Jockey Tony McCoy is expected in Britain's showpiece National Hunt race of the summer on Sunday (28 JUNE). Sea Wall will carry the lowest weight in the £60,000 Britannia Building Society English Summer National at Uttoxeter Racecourse. And that means followers of Tony McCoy - who has a record that is second to none at the Staffordshire racecourse - will be lumping on their money. There is set to be a maximum number of horses - 18 - taking part in the three-and-a-half mile race, which is the horse racing highlight of the biggest family fun day of the year at the racecourse. In fact, so popular is the race, that 13 horses were left out when trainers declared which horses they wanted to run. Ireland has two representatives - Bothar Na and Brotenstown. The runners also include former English Summer National winner Take The Stand and former Welsh National heroine L'Aventure. David MacDonald, General Manager of Uttoxeter Racecourse, said: "Britannia Building Society English Summer National day is one of the great occasions of the year at the racecourse. We always welcome an enormous crowd, packed with families coming for a superb afternoon out at the races." Clerk of the Course Keith Ottesen assesses the going currently as "good to firm". Admission and contact details for Sunday 28 June Gates open at 12 noon. The first race is due off at 2.15pm. The last is at 5.35pm. Premier Enclosure £20; Grandstand Enclosure £16; Centre Course Family Enclosure £8. Accompanied children under 16 always admitted free. Car parking is free.
