THE Cheltenham Festival next March is the target for impressive Uttoxeter Racecourse winner Kangaroo Court. The Bet365 Novices' Chase was the five-year-old's debut over fences, and the 4-7 odds-on favourite won it well. There was an upset in the opening Musicmagpie.com Novices' Hurdle when champion jockey Tony McCoy chose to ride the odds-on favourite Quivvy Bridge in preference to Risk (7-1), but it was the latter horse that won. Ishismart (9-1) gave jockey Harry Skelton a nice 20th birthday present by winning the first division of the Roger Perry 70th Birthday Novices' Handicap Hurdle - the mare's first ever victory. The second division of the race also saw a first victory for Blossom King at 7-1. Telegonus took the Musicmagpie.com Selling Hurdle for the Cheshire training yard of Donald McCain jnr at 6-1. The 12-1 chance Woody Valentine won the Musicmagpie.com Handicap Hurdle, and the 11-year-old Gaelic Flight (8-1) the Musicmagpie.com Handicap Chase. The next fixture at Uttoxeter Racecourse is on Sunday 4 October. More details are available on the racecourse's website www.uttoxeter-racecourse.co.uk.
