LIKE father like son, two victorious horses at Uttoxeter Racecourse on Wednesday afternoon were ridden by the sons of the trainers. Even money market leader Civil Servant, ridden by 16-year-old Sam Twiston-Davies for his father Nigel, won the European Breeders' Fund Lambrini "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle (Qualifier). Then, a little over an hour later, 5-2 shot Rathrockscourt - ridden by Hadden Frost for his father Jimmy - took the Tom Kirkpatrick At Lakeland Haven Selling Hurdle. The feature race, the Red Square Handicap Chase, went to Cheshire trainer Richard Ford's 7-2 joint favourite Silver Steel. The Crabbies Alcoholic Ginger Beer Juvenile Novices' Hurdle was won by the 8-1 chance Zepmove, while the even money favourite Le Commencement held on in the Mike Jones At Greenacres Haven Novices' Hurdle. Classic Clover (9-2) triumphed in the Ross Birkett At Littlesea Haven Handicap Chase, and the closing Haven Holidays Little Star Foundation Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race went the way of Red Not Blue at 11-1. The next fixture at Uttoxeter Racecourse is on Friday 30 October. More details are available on the racecourse's website www.uttoxeter-racecourse.co.uk.
