JOCKEYS Tom Scudamore and Jason Maguire dominated proceedings at Uttoxeter Racecourse on ‘Christmas Market racing day'. Jason Maguire produced a quick-fire double with 25-1 chance Black Apache, who created an upset when winning the Kase Hotel Novices' Hurdle, and Sonny Mullen (11-4) in the Tesco Novices' Hurdle. Tom Scudamore, the son of former champion jockey Peter, took longer to get his two winners, but they came within a little over half an hour of each other. First, Shaking Hands won the Wards Residential Estate Agents Handicap Chase at 14-1, and then Quinte Du Chatelet (5-1) took the Holiday Lounge At Lutterworth Handicap Hurdle. Both horses are trained by David Pipe. Staffordshire trainer Jennie Candlish enjoyed a winner at the racecourse's last meeting, and she did so again with 5-2 fancy Basford Boy under jockey Alan O'Keefe in the Rolux UK Intermediate Open National Hunt Flat Race. The only market leader to win was Golden Globe (5-2 joint favourite) in the Fine Art Ceramics Selling Hurdle, while Our Hero (3-1) defeated the even money favourite Ernst Blofeld in the Holiday Lounge At Hinckley Beginners' Chase. The next fixture at Uttoxeter Racecourse is on Friday 18 December. More details are available on the racecourse's website www.uttoxeter-racecourse.co.uk.
