In 1907 admission to the racecourse cost just one shilling (5p) and was largely patronised by the nobility, gentry and sportsmen of the county. It was in 1988 when the late Sir Stanley Clarke took over, that the transformation into the racecourse that we know today truly began. Uttoxeter was turned into an award winning racecourse, with a reputation for customer service and innovation.
In that first year Uttoxeter Racecourse hosted only five meetings. Now, Uttoxeter Racecourse holds 25 race meetings spread evenly through the year. Whether it is traditional horse racing in winter, or glorious summer jumping, you are sure to find a fixture that suits you.
Uttoxeter’s feature days are the Betfred Midlands Grand National on Saturday 16 March and the John Smiths Summer Cup on Sunday 30 June. Many of the race meetings at Uttoxeter are themed, so look out for our prestigious Ladies Night on Thursday 13 June and our Family Fun Days throughout the Summer. There is truly something for everyone.
Admission starts from just £9 per adult with children under 18 being admitted FREE. This makes racing at Uttoxeter a great day out for the whole family – perfect when you’re looking for something to do in the Midlands any day of the week or weekend.
