39 Horses Entered For The 2024 Bet365 Grand National

A total of 39 horses have been entered for the 2024 The Bet365 Grand National at Uttoxeter Racecourse on Saturday 16th March. The feature race of the season at Uttoxeter, will be run over 4 mile 2 furlongs and a total prize fund of £150,000.

The Class 1 chase has once again attracted some of the top staying steeplechasers from across Britain and Ireland, with 8 horses carrying a BHA rating 140 and above. 149 rated Does He Know trained by Kim Bailey and owned by the Yes He Does Syndicate is the top rated entry.

Two previous winners of the Midlands Grand National are entered and will hope to prove course form is an advantage. The Paul Nicholls trained Truckers Lodge, now a 12 year old, was the winner in 2020 when partnered by Lorcan Williams. Major Dundee won last year’s renewal, ridden by Rex Dingle and trained by Alan King. 

Major Dundee ran in the Classic Chase at Warwick earlier in the year, the winner that day, My Silver Lining, trained by Emma Lavelle also holds an entry for the Midlands Grand National.

Young Dev, who finished second in 2022, trained by Denis Hogan, will be aiming to go one better this year. Young Dev is one of six Irish entries, including, 147 rated, Mr Incredible who represents Irish Champion Trainer Willie Mullins.

Trainer Venetia Williams, who will be hoping to win her first Midlands Grand National, has three entries, Robyndzone, Christopher Wood and this season’s Becher Chase winner, 146 rated, Chambard.

Two notable horses with experience around Uttoxeter are Fergal O’Brien’s Autonomous Cloud and Kinondo Kwetu, trained by Sam England who are both repeat course winners.
