The Leading Trainer and Jockey Awards are proudly sponsored by PP Control & Automation who reward trainers and jockeys with points dependent on the place that they come each race. The winning jockey will be presented with their Season Champion trophy at the race meeting on Saturday 4 May 2019. The winning trainer will win hospitality for 10 guests at Uttoxeter, plus their trophy.

The winner of this season’s Leading Trainer Award is Dan Skelton on 565 points. Dan is followed by Jonjo O’Neill at 113 points, Neil King with 105 and then Nigel Twiston-Davies follows with 102 points.

Skelton has had plenty of success at Uttoxeter throughout the season, including two 4 timers in one day. Uttoxeter continues to be Skelton’s best performing course, with 44 wins from 111 runners, delivering a 40% win rate. Nearly a quarter of the yards total of 202 in the 18/19 season wins came from Uttoxeter.

Dan’s brother Harry Skelton romped home to win the Staffordshire tracks Jockey Championship with 535 points. Harry was followed up by Sam Twiston-Davies with 184 points, Richard Johnson on 153 and very closely followed by Tom Scudamore at 152 points.

Harry has had the season of his life with 567 winners across the overall national, 69 of which were here at Uttoxeter. The same day Dan had one of his 4 timers, Harry landed a 277/1 five-timer at Uttoxeter in November with Beakstown, Tokay Dokey, Molly The Dolly, Premier Rose and Caroline Bailey-trained Crosspark.

The presentation for the Seasonal Awards will take place at Uttoxeter Racecourse during the bet365 Staffordshire Plate Jump Championship Opener Raceday on Saturday 4 May – the first professional raceday of the 2019-20 Jumps Season. Uttoxeter will provide 7 races offering the first points in the new season’s Champion Jockey & Trainer Awards.
