Midlands Grand National

Sat 16 Mar

Celebrating 50 years of the BIGGEST Race in the Midlands in 2019

Since 1969 the Betfred Midlands Grand National has been the jewel in Uttoxeter Racecourse's horse racing crown. To celebrate 50 years, we are proud to announce a significant prize fund increase with a total pot of £280,000 on offer across the race card. The atmosphere is always one of excitement and anticipation as the runners and riders thunder towards the finishing line.

One of the most colourful and spectacular sporting days out on the region's calendar, the Midlands Grand National remains a major highlight of the horseracing world. This top-class Listed Handicap Chase has a long history and always features some of the best chasers in training with several of its previous winners and runners having gone on to achieve glory in top steeplechase races such as the Aintree Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Entertainment

As ever, as an aside from the fantastic racing, there will be loads of entertainment to keep you entertained during the day. Check back at a later date for more to be revealed!

What to wear?

Although there's no strict dress-code at Uttoxeter people usually like to dress for the occasion. Remember it is still March, so wrap up warm. The racecourse enclosures are tarmacked throughout, so there's no need to worry too much about your footwear. Just take into account that some areas of parking are on the grass and could be muddy.

Where will I find something to eat?

Head to the Paddock for Fish and Chips, the Chicken Shack and the brand new Wrights Pie Shop where you can purchase Staffordshire’s favourite pie with mash and gravy. There's a Stone Baked Pizza & Grill in the Marston’'s Betting Hall; and a selection of hot and cold snacks in Marston's Centre Course Bar.

What about something to drink?

You’ll find a selection of bars throughout the site - from Hoops Champagne Bar and the Nag's Head Real Ale pub. Plus numerous pop-up bars around the site on the day.

Look back on the fun we had last time...
